Abstract

Early childhood education (ECE) plays an important role in the education process because it stimulates children's physical and psychological development and lays the foundation for children's personal development. Banten Province has the lowest early childhood education gross participation rate in Java. In fact, Banten Province has the availability of ECE infrastructure as well as good economic and educational background conditions that should be able to support increased ECE participation. Therefore, this study aims to determine the general picture of ECE participation in Banten Province as well as to identify and analyze the tendency of variables that influence the status of ECE participation. The analytical method used is binary logistic regression analysis using Susenas March 2023. The results show that the percentage of ECE participation in Banten Province is 15.02 percent. Variables affecting ECE participation status in Banten Province consist of household poverty status, mother's working status, regional classification of residence, mother's marital status, and number of household members. Children who come from non-poor households; have a working mother; live in urban areas; have a mother with a divorced marital status; and come from households with <= 4 household members and 5-7 household members are more likely to participate in ECE.
